best way to give fruits in tiffin so it doesn't darken

kidshi all, can anybody give me some good tips about which fruits cud be chosen n how it cud be given in kids lunch box tht doesn't blacken..... actually most of the tym it is demanded by school to give fruits only..... tried apple ,pear but both doesn't seem presentable esp after sometym when cut in slices..... n my daughter is 5 yrs young. pls suggest.

Hi Shruti! Giving one serving of fruit each day is indeed a good practice as it is healthy, nutritious, as these contain fiber, vitamins and are rich in minerals. The fruits which turn black such as Apple , peaches, pears etc, after a while can be kept fresh by putting few drops of lemon juice n then put it in a plastic bowl after wrapping it with plastic wrap. While buying fruits please ensure these are not completely ripe as these will get stale easily. The fruits which can be packed for tiffin includes- cherries, strawberries, avocado, papaya,plums, dried figs, dates, cantaloupes, grapes etc. pls ensure small fruits can be given as it is after washing, while big fruits need to be sliced, sprinkled with lemon juice which will also enhance vit C content n then wrapped in plastic wraps. Hope this helps!
