Dear Doctor, My son is 10 and half months old. He eats everything but due to summer his intake has been lowered down. He doesn't want to have anything more than 4-5 small spoons. After that he only takes bm. I give him lunch and dinner which includes (rice, Dal, aloo and anda) or (roti/bread and butter/cerelac). He does breakfast with 1bread slice with butter. and the day he doesn't want to have bread, he takes 2-3 biscuits and water. In the evening either of the purees I provide him but now a days he doesn't want to have more than 3-4 spoons. I would like to know the quantity of food a baby of 11months should take. And what other options I can try for him.

I hope you are doing well. Please stop bread, biscuits, butter as it isn't good for him or his digestion. Eggs and rotis need to be given only after a year, so please avoid it as of now. Even if he is taking 4-5 tsps happily, then it is absolutely okay, please avoid force-feeding him. The quantity varies from child to child and ideally, children eat anywhere between 2-3 tbsps at a given time. Here's a diet for him, give him 1 cup of water (boiled and cooled daily) and don't be worried :) On waking up-Breast milk/formula feed Breakfast- Ragi porridge/oats porridge/daliya porridge/stewed apple/pear/mashed banana Naptime Lunch- Dal soup/Rice kanji or mashed rice mixture/Thin vegetable khichdi/Pureed carrots Breastfeed/formula milk Dinner- Vegetable soup/Mashed potato or sweet potato/Rice kanji/Dal soup/Oats porridge Breast milk
