Dear Mam, my daughter who is 10+ years old got her period. What kind of nutrition and care should I give for her? Should I apply anything to her face and body as she is getting pimples? I make her do skipping, playing shuttle and swimming most of the time, any thing else should I do so she grows tall? Should she avoid playing or doing any exercises during this period? Since she is still a kid, I want to know about these. Kindly advice.

Don't worry. This is very normal these days. Let your daughter stay physically active. Allow her to play, skip, run, cycle as much as she wants. Give her a balanced and nutritious diet with proteins, carbs, fruits, veggies and milk or milk products daily. For acne, use a mild face wash or a homemade paste of sandalwood and rose water. Apply this paste to the acne spots thrice a week. She should be well-hydrated; give her water, soups and coconut water or fresh fruit juices in abundance. Also, for acne, she should stay away from fried or overly spicy foods.
