Breast pump is a mechanical device to extract milk from the breasts of a lactating woman. They can be manual / electric. There is no fixed time to put the breast pumps. Its always better to breastfeed the baby on demand if you can. A breast pump allows you to express your breast milk so that the baby always has access to it when you are away/ can't feed the baby. Some women start using breastpump even for newborns , while some may never need it . It is the mother's decision to use it and even when to use it.
Expressed milk is better stored in fridge only. And it can be be kept for few hours. It is not be kept outside as it will spoil. While giving indirectly heating is the correct way as breastmilk should not be directly heated.
