Hello, my Daughter is two years and two months and she's our only child for now. She just started attending kindergarten in Germany last month. The Teacher complained that she doesn't talk but sings nursery ryhmes all day. They speak german in school and we speak english and our mother tongue at home, we are from nigeria. She speaks a few words and short sentences in english. He also said she doesn't look into people's eyes but she do look at my eyes when we are playing or conversing. He said she doesn't play with other kids, that she's independent, i told him she's an only child and we do not have any friends with kids here in Germany, so most times she plays with adults. He complains she doesn't answer her name but she answers when I call although sometimes she will ignore me and continue playing but will later come to me. He said i should have her evaluated, but I don't think anything is wrong. Please i need your advice. Thankschild-psychology Corner
I understand your concern. Since it is a concern shared by the teacher you could have an evaluation done. This way you get a professional diagnosis. If there is no issue then you have the diagnosis to prove. If it is otherwise then early intervention will help. Hence do not worry. It would be for the good and you can also seek the psychologist help to help your child adjust to her new surroundings. All the best.
