Hello Sir/Ma'am, I have two children. Boy is 3yrs 3months old and daughter is 11 months old. My height is short. I am worried for them for their height. I know it's a genetic but can I do something in their diet to have good growth. My husband is tall but I am short and I wish my both the children should take my husband's height. Please help Thanks and Regards Sadhana Pandeynutrition Corner
though height is largely influenced by our genes, you may give a high calcium and protein diet to help. Give milk and its products like curd, paneer, cheese, buttermilk etc. You may give these as fruit shakes/ fruit lassi. Cheese or paneer can be cut into small bite sized cubes, so that they can use their fingers to eat these. Alternatively paneer/cheese can be added to their roti/sandwich/dosa/uttapam etc. Increase intake of dals/legumes, eggs (hard boiled cut into small bite sized pieces or omlette etc.) poultry/fish (curry, snacks, cutlets, tikka, in rice or in soup). You should encourage the child to play games like badminton, skipping etc.
