hey, I m mother to a 2 month old baby boy. almost 20 days ago he almost left breast feeding. now since last 4 days he's again showing interest in breast feeding but I hv lesser milk production now. and I not able to satisfy his hunger even after feeding for 1 to 1. 5 hr in a session. he sometimes now rejecting fm and crying badly for bm. please suggest how to increase bm and how wud I know that his hunger z satisfiedbl or not.

you need to both relax and take care of diet to help in lactation. Few suggestions are take a balanced diet of cereals (esp dalia, bajra), green leafy vegetables (esp methi, mustard leaves), dals & legumes (masoor. black channa, soybean), fruits, milk products, eggs fish & poultry. Do take almonds, cashew, walnuts, sesame seeds, flaxseeds, dates, raisins, cumin seeds, methi seeds, ajwain, dried ginger, gaund, jaggery etc. You should also take ample fluids in the form of lukewarm water, zeera water, soups, buttermilk, egg nog, milk etc. You may also read a blog for this on our website, link is given https://www.parentune.com/parent-blog/-8-nutrition-tips-for-breastfeeding-mothers/539 Milk production or lactation is also dependent on sucking by the baby. The more the baby feeds, the more the milk is produced. So keep trying to feed him. Breast have to be emptied for more lactation. If ever you can not breastfeed the baby directly, you can express the milk and feed that to your baby. You should feed on both the sides for equal duration, that is 10 minutes at one side and another 10 minutes on the other side. If the milk flow is good, 20-25 minutes would be sufficient. The weight gain of the baby is an indicator whether the baby is being fed sufficiently or not. So if the baby is gaining weight constantly, then it means he is being fed well.
