Hi all Suggest me some healthy food for my 15 month old. At present i give him, Full fat milk(during day time), full cream yoghurt, dal with ghee, biscuits(one or two per day), and all other foods which i eat like dosa, idli, pongal, chapathi, poori etc.. and fruits like apple, cherry, plums, banana, orange. he weighs 9. 5kg & 75 cm height. his birthweight was 3. 4kg He is very active and sleeps 3-4hours during day and during night he wakes up once for milk. At that time i give him Nestle Nido Kinder 1+ (220ml). Please let me know if i'm feeding my kid correctly. Also suggest some food to help my child to gain weight. Also tel me the right weight for his age. Thanks in advance Regards Preethi

Your son's weight and height are normal for his age. Weight gain is slows down in the second year, so do not worry about it. You are giving a healthy diet to your son. So if he is active and healthy, weight is not important. Weight depends not just on diet, but also on our genes, activity level, metabolic rate etc. Few suggestions for weight gain are Use whole milk and its products like curd, paneer, cheese, buttermilk etc. Fruit yogurt made of full-fat milk, full-fat milk based puddings like rice kheer/fruit custard/vermicelli kheer/gajar halwa. Increase intake of dals/legumes( either mashed, in soup or as khichdi dal-roti mash, If non vegetarian food habits then ,eggs (as nogs or in soups), scrambled egg with added milk/fresh malai, poultry/fish (cooked &minced or soup) Give more of fruits like mango, banana, cheeku,litchi, grapes, dates. These may be added to their milkshakes as well. Fruit smoothie especially made of banana, honey and nuts Potato, sweet potato, colocassia, yam besides other vegetables. Boiled potato/ sweet potato with melted cheese & little butter, boiled potato with hummus dip, Use daily Nuts like walnuts, almonds, peanuts finely powdered. Hope it helps.
