your lactation depends on suckling by your baby. The more your baby feeds, the more your milk production will increase.Try and feed your baby after every 2 hours it will stimulate the hormones helps in milk production. Breastmilk is recommended for the first 6 months of your baby's life. This is because breastmilk is tailor-made to suit the needs of the baby. Ways to increase your breastmilk 1. Don't stress & take rest: You should take ample of rest. If you're stressed then the oxytocin hormone that is responsible for lactation will get reduced, which will result in a reduction in your breastmilk production. 2. Take a balanced diet: You should take a balanced diet to ensure proper lactation. Some foods that can help you maintain a balanced diet for proper lactation are cereals like dalia and bajra, green leafy veggies like meethi and mustard leaves, dals and legumes, soya beans, fruits, milk products, eggs and fishes, and etc. 3. Liquids: Since adequate liquids are required for lactation, you should take liquids in the form of juices, soup, buttermilk & more. 4. There are also special foods like galactagogues, which are known to help in lactation. These provide nutrients to a new mother's diet. Some galactagogues are almonds, cashews, walnuts, flaxseeds, sesame seeds, dates, raisins, cumin seeds, methi, ajwain, dried ginger, jaggery & etc. About your second query , i will suggest you to take second opinion if you have any doubts but finally a child specialist is the best judge in this case. consult your doctor for the same. Hope this helps.
