hi, i hav 2. 8 month son.. till now he had pureed food... i use to give him solid but still he did not get the habit of chewing and accepting the solid food of any kind.. since last four days i m nt giving him pureed for lunch and dinner.. only breakfast... now is eating some solid but jus three four spoon of rice or jus pieces of snacks or roti.. i m really getting disheartened and feel like cryin when he rejects.. and on the other hand i want him to become independent.. eat from his own hand and do not give pureed food nemore.. he drinks milk flavourd with chocalte syrup dat too he drink 1 cup at night half and hour bfore sleeping ...i jus want to knw wether i m on right path or not..

if the child prefers soft, mushy food only, give only that for the time being. Give soft foods like porridge ( dalia, suji, sago, rice flakes etc). You may also give vegetable upma of suji, ragi etc. You can gradually introduce solid foods in diet, by giving one or two bites of it. You can give slice of apple/pear or stick of carrot to chew on.Try and make your child have meals with family. This would encourage him to start with solids. Show him chewing your foods. Give gaps between meals so that he is hungry enough to eat. Children also follow each other. Seeing other children eat solid food would also encourage him to chew.
