Hi I have my kids in an igcse school at the moment. My 9th grader has a keen interest in engineering. I am confused because one teacher advices that he should HSC in 11th and 12th while other says IB, I wanted A-level for him. I'm ok with sending him abroad post 12th and will be happy to keep him in Mumbai too if he gets admission in a good engineering college. Basically open to all options. My opinion on the drawbacks to all boards:- in HSC he will not be allowed the calculator that he has been using in igcse. I don't know how he will adjust to without one. In IB I feel it's too much hard work, and while in grade 11 and 12 he will have to prepare for jee exams that might get more difficult. In A levels he still will have the ease of calculator and time to prepare for jee exams but I don't know if it's well accepted globally. Please guide me

Hi Vineet!

There is still some time, but it is perhaps right to make up your mind now than later.

Grade 9 is not so ideal to change boards, unless you are completely convinced about another board. In case it's competitive exams or going abroad for studies, your child could do that even

while he passes out of an ICSE board, by taking his SAT exam. Similarly, he could prepare for JEE as well while being at ICSE board. Could you share if there is any particular concern so as to why you would like to change your child's education board.

Hope this helps.
