Offer the child variety of foods. Include foods from all the five food groups - 1)Cereals / millets like ragi, bajra, wheat, oats, rice , suji etc. 2) Protein foods like dals or pulses, egg, chicken, fish, paneer etc 3) Fruits and vegetables - Include rainbow of fruits and vegetables as different fruits and vegetables have different antioxidants and helps in immunity boosting 4) Fats - Fats like ghee, butter, oils etc 5) Dairy - Milk and milk products to provide Ca and Vitamin D for healthy bones and teeth. Try including the foods from all these 5 food groups in a day. Serve the kid 3 main meals and 2-3 snacks in addition to the milk. If the child is underweight, prepare more items with whole milk like custards, pancakes,porridge etc and also try including combination meals like fruit milk shake etc. Also serve healthy calorie dense snacks like patato/ sweetpatato fries with hummus dip etc. Include calorie dense fruits like mango, litchi, chickoo , banana etc . And also don't forget to add nuts too ( if the child isn't allergic to it).Hope this helps!
