few suggestions for your younger child, to help in weight gain are Fruit smoothie especially made of banana, honey and malai, milk/curd Boiled & mashed potato with melted cheese on it, boiled sweet potato with a little butter, Scrambled egg with added milk/fresh malai, egg nog or egg added to soup Dal-roti mash, dalia dal khichdi. Add extra spoon of ghee/butter/oil to their dishes. Fruit yogurt made of full-fat milk, Full-fat milk based puddings like rice kheer/dates& raisins(cooked & mashed) custard/vermicelli kheer/gajar kheer. Paneer/cheese can be added to their roti/sandwich/dosa/uttapam/pasta etc. Increase intake of dals/legumes, eggs (hard boiled/ omlette /fried etc. ) poultry/fish (curry, snacks, cutlets, tikka, rice or soup). Give more of fruits like mango, banana, cheeku,litchi, grapes, dates. These may be added to their milkshakes as well. Give more of potato, sweet potato, colocassia, yam besides other vegetables. Nuts like walnuts, almonds, peanuts and dried fruits like raisins, currants, dried apricot. Calorie rich snacks ideas are Pasta with cheese, egg/potato/cheese parantha made with a little ghee, cheese balls, cheese & paneer sandwich.
