hi.. my son is 2. 5yrs old.. he is suffering from severe constipation.. he passes hard stool with applying force on it... pls suggest me..

Constipation in children is mostly diet related. Therefore the first and most important thing is to ensure that there is enough fluid and fibre in his diet. The fluid may be plain water, coconut water, juices, soups etc. At his age, aim for atleast 4-5 glasses of fluid per day. Fibre can be found in most vegetables, fruits and foods like porridge, oats, dals etc. Avoid giving refined cereals/ maida products. If you find that the problem persists despite above measures, please see your paediatrician
