Children can be trained to sleep in separate rooms from a young age. Maintaining a good sleep routine can help the children settle down faster. Instead of telling them stories, you can encourage them to read their own story books as they are old enough to read. They can take a book they find easy to read. You can also read a story to them in the night as a reward for getting into bed in time. Start making small changes. Everyday you can reduce the time you spend with them in the room by 5 mins until they get the habit of sleeping by themselves. you can also tell them to keep the light on when they sleep, if being in the dark scares them. You can turn off the light later on. Do read this blog for more information. https://www.parentune.com/parent-blog/right-age-for-shifting-your-child-to-a-separate-bed/2952 Take care
