Hi. Thank you for the answer. But I have a small problem. The child was put in Nursery so far. I want him to be put in UKG. However, the School Management says it would be difficult for him to cope up with the syllabus. I as a parent am ready to spend that extra time to help him do that. Please suggest if I should go with UKG or put him in LKG and let him pick up the things at his ease.

You have these options which you can choose from:
1. Is the child ready for UKG? Is he well equipped with the concepts taught in LKG? If yes then please try a different school where they will admit.
2. If your child is not ready with what is done in LKG, then it is wise to make him go through LKG. This is because schoolscover a lot of concepts -reading, writing- so if he has not been exposed to it, it will be a stress and strain for the child and you. Being a few months or a year older in a class is not worrisome at all. In fact our olden day system stress that children should be 5 years old to be taught the letters. In the west, schools are encouraging that children should be admitted in LKG at the age of 5.
3. Your child will be able to grasp what is taught more easily if he goes through stage by stage. Being smart ad being learning ready is different.
