As per WHO Classifications, babies born before 37 weeks are termed as Pre-term babies. Preterm babies are kept in Incubators in the hospital and baby's growth is monitored. Initially weight is taken every day and later every week. You must have seen the same in your baby also.This is all normal; this is done to make sure your baby is growing well plus she is in closed safe environment giving her the same feeling that she is inside you. Your baby's growth will be noted by your doctor who will advice you accordingly. But for your understanding, to know if your baby is growing well, here are few tips, a) Your little one will starting gaining weight slowly after few days after birth. b) If baby was born too ahead of due date then gain in weight is very less, only, 5gm/day and if closer to the due date it can be around 20gm/day. In your case it seems, baby is gaining weight, so now it will be your doctor that will decide when to discharge the baby. Usually baby is discharged after baby has attained certain weight and doing perfectly well in all other conditions. Kindly be in touch with your doctor to understand your baby's growth
