my baby is into 8th month and atill breast fed. we have not started weaning yet. my question would be is it advisable to continye to breastfeed alone till the baby is 1 year old? provided mother has sufficient milk and baby is gaining weight properly? just a bit worried if we are depriving baby of the nutrients you get from veg n fruits. We did check with the doctor who said its fine as breast milk has all the nutrition required. But when i read online they say baby needs more than breastmilk after 6 months of age? So I am very confused. What would you suggest?

Answer:
milk alone is not sufficient as it lacks iron and vitamin C and the child has chances of becoming anemic. Again below one year of age it is critical time to introduce solids/foods other than milk, otherwise later the child would have problem in adjusting/liking the taste of food.
