my daughter is 2. 5 years.. her grandparents pamper her too much.. she always demend choc.. fruity.. kinder joy from them.. and they fulfil.. in a day she ate a lot choc.. if i deny then she started crying n her grandparents fulfill her wish.. i m very much upset.. what should i do..nutrition Corner
these sweets are nothing but junk food as they are high in sugar calories and low in nutrition. Restrict the intake of sweets to minimum, for once a week/ fortnight. Don't keep any sweets in the house, so that the child is not tempted. Be firm in saying no, when child asks for sweets. Fix meal times for the child, that is with family meal timings. Don't let him eat in between. Give her healthy options, which should be what the family is eating. Try including her favourite healthy options for the meals. You can make snacks healthier by using whole grain flour, vegetables & fruits. Try & make regular food interesting like chapatti veggies as Kathi roll or vegetables, cheese/shredded chicken spread over roti with ketchup. Give variety your child in foods. Don't even let others offer her chocolates/sweets. It would take some time & patience, to make the child understand. Hope it helps.
