My doctor gave me a medroxyprogesterone tablets 10 mg to start my period for 7 days and there is no period after 7 days I did blood test and it came positive and I'm pregnant now. the question is is this medication used during pregnancy to prevent miscarriage and it is safe for the baby

Medroxyprogesterone acetate tablets are used to treat certain hormonal disturbances, irregular periods and also for withdrawal periods . They are not used to support a pregnancy. Recent studies have indicated that inadvertant use in early pregnancy doesn't cause structural defects in the baby. Do discuss this with your doctor. Your doctor can prescribe you other progesterone preparations which are better to support the pregnancy and also prescribe appropriate tests and medications.
