Try increasing his calorie intake through healthy foods like whole grain cereals , pulses , fruits vegetables , eggs , meat and dairy. Young children have small tummies and therefore can't eat lot of food in one meal. So, make sure that you feed him small and frequent meals. Try including more combination foods like - mango shake with nuts etc( which has milk + fruit + nuts/dry fruits like dates) or khichdi ( combination of dal, rice, vegetables and fat) as its easy to have such foods in combination rather than seperately. Include more of calorie dense fruits which includes mango, litchi, chickoo, grapes and banana and calorie dense vegetables like patatoes, sweetpatatoes etc. You can also consider giving fresh fruit juice ( without added sugar) in between the main meals. Also include dals / beans/ lentils / paneer and eggs in his diet. You can also make some nice calorie dense dips like hummus or cream cheese based dip and can give it will some snacks like crackers or fries during snack time. Also add fennel seeds in his diet. you can powder it and then add it to any one of his favorite food as it will help improve his appetite. Last but not the least, you can add any good calorie dense supplement to the milk to increase his calorie intake.
