My son is three years old. He was diagnosed with bi-lateral hydro nephrosis at 5th month of pregnancy. Kidney dilation was increasing every month and it became severe towards the last stage of pregnancy. My wife had normal delivery at 8th month and the baby was fine for the first two days. From the third day, he again had block in passing urine and back pressure for the kidney was massive. After scanning, it was detected that the block was in renal pelvic. The doctor immediately recommended for inserting nephrostomy tubes in both sides and released the blocked urine. Doctor advised us to weight for 3 months so that the baby will gain weight to proceed for surgery. My son is 6. 5 kg now, but he had fever last week and was detected with urinary infection. We were advised to give 7 days antibiotic and it is in progress. Doctor said that if the urine culture results are negative, we can proceed with surgery. I would like to clarify the below points. 1. Will this have any issue with good functioning of kidneys in future. 2. Urine was flowing through the nephrostomy tube for three months. Will this affect the normal passage of ureter to the bladder 3. Will this surgery at 4th month create any health issues 4. What all we have to take care about his diet and medical tests in future 5. Is it advisable to proceed with surgery at both side in single procedure or to do it separately

Answer:
you need to talk to the doctor (nephrologist) in person about these details. He/she would be the best person to guide you in this.
