Hypothyroidism can be treated by giving medication to the mother and the thyroid hormone levels can be maintained optimally , then it is safe during pregnancy. After the age of 35 years, there are more chances of having a genetic problem in the baby, complications for the mother such as high blood pressure and diabetes also increase. So , there is an increased risk, but it doesn't happen in all women. Pregnancy can be managed with good care by your doctor.
