There is a difference between vomiting and spitting up. Vomiting is the forceful throwing up of stomach contents through the mouth. Spitting up (most commonly seen in infants under one year of age and usually goes away) is the easy flow of stomach contents out of the mouth, frequently with a burp. If you are sure that he is vomiting but not spitting then mostly your baby may be having gastroesophageal reflex (GERD) where lower end of esophagus gets relaxed and allow the contents in the stomach to vomit. This can be controlled by the following: A. Avoid overfeeding or give smaller feeds more frequently. B. Burp the baby frequently even before and after the feeds. Here's a blog that may help you- C. Leave the infant in a safe, quiet, upright position for at least thirty minutes following feeding. If the vomiting still doesn't stop consult the pediatrician for a physical examination. Take Care
