But recently I have discuss this with one of my friend who is accociated with educational field..... he told me it's not good for child as they always try to adopt shortcut in real life problem because of this training , it teaches shortcut to their student for doing math and other things .... he said child will not learn / mug any number table because he will use this training for derive the result of mathematical problem like table......... I am really confused what to do now , will this training help him or i am developing child dependencies on abacus..... please suggest........ Thanks and regards parents.education Corner
Learning a skill will not impact negatively. It is just a mathematical skill training. One has to be thorough with tables to do abacus too. Also such a skill affecting real life decision making is very very far fetched. Abacus is an after school activity which makes learning math fun. I am neither advocating nor against. It is up to you or your child if he wants this activity after school. Traditional school boards require children to solve math in steps as marks are awarded. Also it helps the teacher to know if the child has understood. Abacus is another method. Also by the age of 11-12 they will put grow the interest of abacus method. Children adapt quickly and go back to school method too. In this age they just have fun doing the abacus way.
