Serve the normal food which you and your family eats. Offer the child variety of foods. Include foods from all the five food groups - 1)Cereals / millets like ragi, bajra, wheat, oats, rice , suji etc. 2) Protein foods like dals or pulses, egg, chicken, fish, paneer etc 3) Fruits and vegetables - Include rainbow of fruits and vegetables as different fruits and vegetables have different antioxidants and helps in immunity boosting 4) Fats - Fats like ghee, butter, oils etc 5) Dairy - Milk and milk products to provide Ca and Vitamin D for healthy bones and teeth. Try including the foods from all these 5 food groups in a day. Serve the kid 3 main meals and 2-3 snacks in addition to the milk. Serve items with whole milk like custards, pancakes,porridge etc and also try including combination meals like fruit milk shake or vegetable- dal- rice khichdi or vegetable- dal- dalia etc. Nuts can also be included - u can powder it and add the 1/2 nuts mix to the foods like milk based porridge etc.
