Tooth decay is caused where acids produced by bacteria in the mouth damage the enamel of the teeth. Some Signs Of Tooth Decay in Children include changes in the color of the tooth, Pain while biting into food or eating or Bad breath
Some of the causes Of Tooth Decay in Children include Food like chocolates and sugary eatables, Beverages like Juices, soft drinks, and even milk can result in tooth decay. Also if there are medical conditions like chronic allergies, he/she may resort to mouth breathing, which reduces the flow of saliva, increasing the chances of cavities. You should not let your child have a bottle of milk in his/her when he/she falls asleep. Encourage your child to drink milk or juice from a cup rather than sipping it slowly. It is also important you brush your child's teeth twice a day with pea-sized toothpaste especially after he/she consumes any sweets. And avoid giving your child sugary foods and fruits which contain a high amount of acid content.
Encourage your child to drink water during meal times rather than sipping on juices. Limit sugary drinks and snacks.
Teach your child the importance of taking care of his/her teeth right from the beginning.

Hi doctor! My son is 3 years old but he is not brushing his teeth properly and not allowing me to brush him as well. He loves everything made of sugar. I couldn't control him from taking sweets. He has become more addicted to chocolates and sweets. How can I prevent his teeth from decay and control him?

Hello Ma'am ! When is the right time to brush a baby's teeth. My sister's son is 11 months old. He has just begun with his teething . Sometimes bad breath comes from his mouth. He is on bottle feed and has milk 2-3 times at night while sleeping. Could that be the cause for bad breath? Please give some handy tips to deal with this issue . I have been watching your live . Ma'am my 2. 5 year old has two cavities in his milk teeth. What is the treatment for the same? Please guide. Is tooth extraction the right step at this young age? I am too much concerned for him. He doens't eat vegetables and Dals and consumes more of chocolates, chips and juices.

Hello Doctor! My 2. 8 years old daughter often complains of toothache. She doesn't brush her teeth properly. She is quite energetic and playful and doesn't even let us brush her teeth. Her teeth seem to be very weak and small in size as per her age. What food c an be given to her to make her teeth stronger and alleviate the pain that she complains of quite frequently.
