How to strike a balance with Screen in the child's life
May 01, 2021, 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Screen time can be part of a healthy lifestyle for children when it’s balanced with other activities that are good for your child’s development, like physical play, reading and socializing. Getting the right balance also includes making sure screen time doesn’t interfere with sleep. This can only be possible if we moderate screen time and strike a balance.
Let’s begin by understanding why it is important to moderate screen time for a child. Like the way we moderate everything else for a child including junk food, polluted air outside, entertainment time and so similarly, controlling screen time for children is also important. Screen Moderation can be started at any time or age of the child.
One important area, which you may miss at times, is to understand your real worry about your child’s screen usage rather than making the screen itself your worry. It’s important to understand that your child may be learning from the screen and not all about the screen usage is necessarily bad. Once you are clear about the real issue, you can then talk about it with your child in a calm and patient manner
This workshop aims to help you encourage your child to use screens in a balanced and healthy way. Learn how to strike a balance with Screen in the child's life with Child Behavioral Specialist Kiran Tevtiya in this Parentune Live. Join now and ask your questions.

Hello Ma'am ! My child is 7 years old. He has somehow got addicted to playing games on laptop. My husband and I are working parents. Though we are working from home these days ,still we do not get enough time to spend with him. Whatever time we get , if we tell him to come and talk to us or play with us, he doesn't seem to be interested. How can we make him get de-addicted to gadgets and reduce his dependency on screen?

Madam please share some key points we should keep in mind while giving gadgets to our children. For instance what should be the ideal duration, breaks in between, should the child be allowed to use it in his own room. My child is 8 years old, and I am quite concerned about his usage of mobile. He is constantly on his phone and nothing seems to work to keep him away from it.

My son is unable to sleep at night. He keeps on tossing and turning all night. I am having a tough time putting him to sleep. He spends his entire day on gadgets with minimal physical activity. I have tried to set his routine but haven't been successful in making him follow it. Kindly give suggestions to help him make limited usage of gadgets and sleep without any fuss.

Hello Ma'am ! My children are 11 and 7 years old respectively. Their online classes have been put on a halt suddenly. This has jeopardized their schedule and they sleep late, they wake up at around lunch time, they get glued to their gadgets the moment they are awake. They have their meals with YouTube videos on. I have tried to take away their phone and laptop. They start crying and throw lot of tantrums and they promise they will not use it again beyond the stipulated time but it's the same story again after a day or so. Please suggest some handy tips to put a cap on their screen time.

Hello Mam, I have a 6 yr old daughter who is very smart and intelligent. But due to the pandemic and few personal issues, my child got so much addicted to the screen that now she doesn't concentrate on her studies and she doesn't find interesting to study and feels very lazy and distracted while doing her homework. I feel her thinking capability has come down because of watching screen blindly. Please suggest what can we do so that she can balance her studies and screen time.

He can read story book but he doesn't like to do online class. In class time he doesn't want to seat in a place , doesn't reply what teacher is asking , doesn't like to do his homework , doesn't listen to teacher and us. After class he start to make logo, he knows lots off IT companies name and their logos .If you will ask me how my answer will be "I don't know from where he can get this ." He knows 1 to 5 number tables 10 and 11 also. I never ever teach him. But my main concern is he speaks very less . I think he doesn't have enough vocabulary also to express himself. He doesn't listen to us and his teacher also. If u will not speak about his work he will not communicate with you. How to solve it?? If u can suggest will be very helpful.
