More than 90% of a child's brain develops by age 5. There are four main areas of development: motor, language and communication, social and emotional, and cognitive.
Brain development is part of cognitive development. Cognitive development describes how a child’s intellect grows, and includes thinking, learning and problem-solving skills. These skills in turn affect all other areas of development too.
The food your child eats in these early years (2–5 years) has a profound effect on their health and development, especially their Brain Development, which is happening at a rapid rate at this stage of their life. There are certain nutrients that are critical and missing out on them can have a lifelong impact on a child’s development.
