Hi, my kid is 3 months old. I feed him every 2 to 3 hrs. He is taking the feed only for 10 mins or 15 mins at the max. Would that be enough for him? He was weighing 5.4 kgs on 75th day. Is it good weight?

You are doing perfectly fine. Most babies are able to suckle good amount of breast milk in first 5 to 7 mins. 2015-08-08 11:32:14
message user image
If she is passing five to six times urine in a day, that should be good 2015-08-08 11:32:32
message user image
Its better to plot the baby's weight and height on growth chart and follow over period of time to see if the baby is growing fine 2015-08-08 11:33:11

You need to plot the weight and the height records of the baby since birth on the software http://www.who.int/childgrowth/software/en/ 2015-08-08 11:35:37

if you see the trajectory of growth going up then nothing to worry but in case the trajectory of growth is going down please see your doctor 2015-08-08 11:36:12

if the baby is demanding more then he is regulating his feed himself. You should keep track of how many times urine is being passed. 5-6 times in 24 hours is adequate 2015-08-08 11:39:39

and also follow the growth chart and keep updating it regularly so as to have a good idea about the growth 2015-08-08 11:40:13

My son is one month old..in the evenings he cries for about 6hours n wants to be fed at least 5times for about 30mts each..I would like to know is this because of colic pain or is this a habit of cluster feeding.then he sleeps for about 4-5 hours at a stretch..

Babies have a semi demand schedule . if the baby asks for the feed we need to give but if the child does not get up by 4-5 hours we need to wake the child up 2015-08-08 11:42:43

My baby is 2 month old, I am exclusively breastfeeding him. When he was born he was 3.1kg and now in 45 days he is 5.1kg, he was taking long and frequent feeds, is it a normal weight gain? Or am I over feeding him? How will I know if I am over feeding him, he gets pain like colic in the evenings so I give gastica drops, is that okay to give gastica drops regularly?

Hi..my 6 week old sleeps for 3 hours after the week and sometimes 4 hours after the feed in the evening and night so technically I am feeding him every 4 hours during the day and every 5 hours post evening. Do you think this is good for my milk supply and for the healthy weight gain of the baby. Baby's birth weight was 3.385 kg and 3.12 when left the hospital and4.45 at 6 weeks. Do you think this is good enough?

Though he doesn't cries but sleeps after few minutes of feeding. sometimes after long hours of cluster feeding I have to give him formula milk. I want to avoid formula milk but due to cluster feeding habit I have to give him sometime.

My Daughter is 9 months old and as I am working I feed her only in evening till next day morning so she takes almost 4-5 times feed in this time frame but she vomits almost every time what could be a reason and should i stop feeding her. Also if give her cerelac or something in dinner after that also she wants me to feed her for sleeping and than she sometimes vomits. So what should I do. When should I stop feeding.

Breastfeeding usually does not result in vomiting but if your child still has the problem please see your physician to see if the child is overfeeding or has some medical issues. 2015-08-08 12:01:57

You need to have 550 calories and 25 gm protein over and above your pre pregnant diet to have good quality and quantity milk 2015-08-08 12:05:16
message user image
you need to take 2-2-5 lt of fluids every day.. 1500 ml for your body functions and also 700 for the milk production 2015-08-08 12:05:50
message user image
Feed your child every 2-3 hours and one breast at one time so that more you empty the breast fully each time you are going to have more milk production 2015-08-08 12:06:46
message user image
if that does not help ask your doctor to prescribe some medications for increasing the milk supply 2015-08-08 12:07:17

Hi, I plan to start working once my baby is 5 months and don't want to stop breast feeding her. I plan to use pump to extract BM while in office but storing it in a fridge is a problem. Can I store pumped milk at room temperature for 6 to 7 hrs? After coming home can I put that milk in fridge for storing or does it have to be used immediately?

16

It is ok to keep the expressed breast milk for 6-7 hours at the room temperature if the room temp is between 25-30. 2015-08-08 12:08:52

you should either store in refrigerator immediately for further usage and not thaw again and again 2015-08-08 12:10:16
message user image
Immediately as in after coming home? 2015-08-08 12:11:03

I am planning on joining work from next month ..so it's not possible for me to Breast feed him when I am not available should I give him formula and which formula should I give him and once I am back from work I can feed him BM will that be enough for him as he is used to having my BM ... And I am concerned about his nutrition too ! What to feed and what not too and will his weight increase gets slow after certain months !

You could sustain the baby on only the breast milk morning and evening and give complimentary feeds ( semi solid diet ) being given during the day 3-4 times. 2015-08-08 12:21:33

My son is 3 months old and he is on mix feed(breast milk and formula milk). Even after a feed of 60 ml formula milk(which i am assuming is heavier than breast milk), he again starts crying in next 30-40 mins and keep crying until i give him pacifier/feed which soothes him. Everybody says his metabolism is fast so can digest faster than other infants so needs more diet and should be fed very frequently. Is it possible or i m just overfeeding him?
