Hi Sandhya, though oats is a nutritious cereal, giving it everyday is not recommended. You should give a variety of cereals and foods to the child, so that they get a better range of nutrients. 2018-11-22 15:15:31

Besides jaggery, you may also use dates or any dried fruit like raisins, figs, apricots etc for sweetening. They provide a range of vitamins and minerals especially iron and fibre. 2018-11-22 15:16:52

One way to reinforce any habit, is by eating that same food, vegetables in front of the child everyday. You can also combine/add vegetables to his favourite foods like oats and vegetables upma or cheela. It can be vegtable pasta/sandwiches, idli etc 2018-11-22 15:18:54

It is recommended to only breastfeed the baby for first six months. Do not give any other milk, along with your milk, as it would diminish the advantages of breast feeding. 2018-11-22 15:30:41

For any water, juice, you should wait till the baby is 6 months old. This is because any other food would not provide the nutrients, which milk does. Moreover the digestive system is still developing and may not have enough enzymes to digest other foods properly 2018-11-22 15:36:48

Since the baby is really small and has just started with foods, it is better to take advice of your paediatrician. But in the meantime, do start giving water also. Starting with few spoons initially, give around 120-200 ml water per day to help in constipation. 2018-11-22 15:27:22

Hi Sandhya, these need not be given if the child is healthy eating and growing well. Only if the child is not eating a balanced diet and might develop any nutritional deficiency because of it, you may continue with these. 2018-11-22 15:53:50

Hi Laxu, if the baby is growing well and gaining weight you may wait for another month, that is from six months. Otherwise, you may start with strained vegetable soup including green leafy vegetables , fresh fruit juice. At 6 months you can give ragi porridge, rice kheer, suji kheer or phirni etc. You can gradually start with mashed banana, boiled potatoes, dal water also 2018-11-22 15:56:12
