Yes, you can start with juices now also. The juice should not be sour and it should be well sieved. Start with a spoon or two and wait for 24 hours to check for any allergy. If the baby is able to take it without any problem, then you may continue. 2015-12-23 11:40:16

Wait for few months as avocados are high in fat. Start these fruits around one year of age. Give all other fruits cooked/stewed/or in a juice form. Only banana can be given mashed, without cooking. 2015-12-23 11:52:41

Hi Minakshi, introduce only one food at a time. if the baby accepts the food readily, keep giving that. If she doesn't like discontinue that and you may reintroduce that food after a gap of couple of weeks. 2015-12-23 11:56:12
message user image
Puja Vasisht
You can start with soups (green leafy vegetables), fruit juices, porridge of cereals etc. Try these one by one. Check for any allergy. If the food does not give any problem, then you may contiue. 2015-12-23 11:58:17
message user image

If you take eggs, then you can also start with egg yolk (half boiled) now. It can be given with boiled and mashed vegetables like potato, carrot, bottle gourd etc. 2015-12-23 12:11:57

I never give formula milk. She is only having breastfeeding and I know cow milk we should start after one year but people around me telling she will not calcium you have start milk is it right 2015-12-23 12:16:57
message user image
Puja Vasisht
You can start with daliya, give easily digestible vegetables like pumpkin, gourds, carrot, potato and some green leafy too. Dinner can be given 2-3 hours before your child sleeps for night. Chicken stew you can be started around 8-9 months now but it should be from a reliable source 2015-12-23 12:17:11
message user image
Okiee I have avent streamer and masher so in that I can steam and mash chicken 2015-12-23 12:18:09
message user image
Puja Vasisht
Except banana other fruits are not easily digested by babies, hence they need to be stewed/cooked or given in a juice form. 2015-12-23 12:18:12
message user image
Puja Vasisht
Wait for another few more months to start with mashed chicken. In the mean time as suggested above, you can start with its stew/soup. 2015-12-23 12:19:30
message user image
Orange pulp I used give her is it fine 2015-12-23 12:20:11
message user image
Salt I am adding pinch of salt because without salt she will not have is it ok 2015-12-23 12:21:48
message user image
Puja Vasisht
Nuts again are little hard to digest. By 9-10 months you may give little in a very well powder form. If you are taking care of your diet and lactating sufficient then calcium should not be a problem. You give phirni, kheer too. 2015-12-23 12:22:14
message user image
Puja Vasisht
Oranges may give allergy, so generally citrus fruits are recommended around one year. If you have started, and the baby is not allergic, you can continue with its juice and not pulp. 2015-12-23 12:23:32
message user image
Yes milk is sufficient for her with all his food and daily I am taking milk so not a problem with calcium 2015-12-23 12:23:36
message user image
Puja Vasisht
Restrict salt a pinch only otherwise too much of sodium of salt is not suitable for a baby's system. 2015-12-23 12:24:21
message user image
She is fine with orange and no allergy till date and she is liking pulp so much 2015-12-23 12:24:49
message user image
Brown rice is good or white rice 2015-12-23 12:25:50
message user image
I stared with brown organic basmati rice is it fine 2015-12-23 12:26:18
message user image
Puja Vasisht
If the child is able to tolerate it and digest it with out any problem, you can continue. 2015-12-23 12:27:52
message user image
Commercial food is good or home made 2015-12-23 12:28:33
message user image
Actually I am giving combination 2015-12-23 12:28:54
message user image
Puja Vasisht
Home made is always a better option for everyone. 2015-12-23 12:29:00
message user image

Hi. My baby is one and half months old. And I do not have milk.I have consulted lactation experts and tried all medicines but I lack milk. Iam giving him formula feed NAN PRO 1. What else can I give him and when can I start semi solids?

message user image
Puja Vasisht
Hi Sandhya, as of now you can only feed him formula milk only. 2015-12-23 12:35:59
message user image
Puja Vasisht
Semi-solids can be started between 4 to 6 months. 2015-12-23 12:36:20
message user image
Puja Vasisht
You can take advice of your paediatrician at that point of time. After assessing the growth of your baby he would recommend when to start with weaning foods (between 4 to 6 months). 2015-12-23 12:38:33

My baby girl will turn 6 next month I shall give her home made food. I purchased baby biscuits too ( I guess they are not teeting biscuits ) . Are biscuits good for her ?? She is on exclusive breast feed and these biscuits need to be mixed in milk. Can I use formula milk for that ?? I will be travelling next month so i wanted ready made food

Puja Vasisht
Hi Samiya, it is always better to give home made options than the commercial ones. Biscuits may contain a lot many ingredients and preservatives, not suitable for your baby. 2015-12-23 12:40:42
message user image
Puja Vasisht
You can start with fresh porridge instead. You may give her malted ragi or rice flakes porridge or even suji. 2015-12-23 12:41:31
message user image
Can I give her Bananas or apple in winter ? 2015-12-23 12:42:16
message user image
Puja Vasisht
If home made is not possible you may use precooked cereals especially for this age group. Banana can be given in mashed form and apples can be stewed, mashed and then given. 2015-12-23 12:43:29
message user image
Thank you Puja .. I will be travelling next month so what should be her diet ? 2015-12-23 12:43:42
message user image
Thank u 2015-12-23 12:43:53
message user image
Puja Vasisht
You can carry fruits like banana, cheeku. Some readymade precooked cereals and you may even roast semolina, oats and mix it with hot milk/water to prepare along with some jaggery powder. 2015-12-23 12:46:17
message user image
Can I introduce formula milk in her diet ? 2015-12-23 12:46:27
message user image
Puja Vasisht
For the sake convenience, you may carry some formula milk too. Start with these foods now before you travel. This would help the child to get accustomed to these foods/milk. Anything new, especially while travelling should be avoided. 2015-12-23 12:48:13
message user image
Can u also mention the type of oats please ? Quarker ? 2015-12-23 12:49:17
message user image
Puja Vasisht
Any reputed brand would do. Check on the packaging too, if it is suitable for infant. Many a times, they may contain some other ingredients too, which are not suitable for the infant. 2015-12-23 12:51:53

Puja Vasisht
Hi Priyanka, for a 9 month old, you should be giving only egg yolk in half boiled form. egg white or whole egg can be introduced around one year of age, as egg white may give allergy. 2015-12-23 12:58:35
message user image
Puja Vasisht
egg yolk can be added to mashed potato, vegetables etc. 2015-12-23 12:59:05
