Ever wondered why a child's bowel movements go for a toss when there is an exam the next day. Yes, anxiety and bowel movements are linked. According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA), the body releases hormones and chemicals when a person is anxious. This can enter the digestive tract and disturb the gut leading to chemical imbalance, causing issues like diarrhea, constipation, stomach bloating in kids, stomach pain

Ayurveda and now even Modern Science now say that there are hormones that are secreted in the gut and which work in the brain. And there are hormones that are secreted in the brain due to panic attacks, anxiety etc work in the gut - the stomach shows symptoms. Stomach health is very important. Measures like bowel movement, good bladder movement, intake of fibres, consumption of water etc help in improving the gut health and also brain health.

It is also said that if one has any issues in the gut, it is a good idea to work on the brain and similarly, if you have issues in the brain, for example psychological issues, work on the gut for better health and well-being.
