Getting Vaccination During Covid Times
Created by Dr. Manoj Yadav Updated on Oct 12, 2020
Immunization is the process whereby a person is made immune to an infectious disease, typically by the administration of a vaccine. Vaccine stimulates the body’s own immune system to protect the person against subsequent infection or disease. It is a simple, safe, and effective way of protecting people against harmful diseases, before they come into contact with them.
According to WHO, Immunization is a global health and development success story, saving millions of lives every year. Vaccination reduces the risks of getting a disease by working with your body’s natural defences to build protection.
Getting vaccination on time is one of the most important steps towards building immunity and a healthy life. Children who are not vaccinated on time, as per the Immunization schedule are susceptible to diseases and can also spread illness to others. But it is also important to take necessary precautions to minimize any risk, while stepping out for our child's vaccination, especially during Covid Times. Some safety tips that parents should follow are making a prior appointment, wearing a safety mask and keeping your child well covered with breathable, light and sheer cloth, using an alcohol-based sanitizer at regular intervals, maintaining social distancing at all times, preferring digital payments etc. It is important to follow your child's recommended immunization schedule which has age specific vaccines for your child.
