How to reduce weight in overweight Children
Created by Archana Reddy Updated on Dec 11, 2020
Is your child overweight or obese? Healthy weight is one of the best things for a child for their overall growth and development. However it is important to know there is no single number on the scale that children should achieve to be healthy. The range depends on height, gender, and their age.
If you think your child needs to lose weight, you should talk to their health care provider. They may help you know what to focus on to help your child reach a healthy weight, irrespective of their age. Some ways in which you can help your child maintain a healthy weight are by being a good role model, encouraging physical activity every day which can include walking, running or anything that your child enjoys, keeping to child-sized portions, eating healthy meals, drinks and snacks and very important less screen time and more sleep. You should try to change your family's eating habits so this becomes part of the lifestyle. Try interesting options and give them to your child in different forms.
Also, set goals. Keep them realistic. As your children are still growing, it may be better to help them maintain rather than lose weight. Also be supportive and positive as that can go a long way.
