Let’s not wait anymore - a mother tells you to take action now!

“Hello, Doctor. Once again, my son has caught a cough and cold. He is continuously sneezing and coughing. What should I do?” This has probably been the most common health issue for which I have been consulting my two-year-old son’s paediatrician often. Honestly, I got quite frustrated, buying medicines so frequently for my son. Moreover, it had become a nightmare feeding oral medicines to my boy – he displayed sheer reluctance to consume these, and the struggle was real, guys.
And one fine day words of a close friend’s mother hit me really hard. She said, “I think your son has very low immunity.” What? Low immunity? I was taken aback. Out of anxiety, I started surfing websites to figure out what are the reasons and remedies for low immunity. But the information I landed on got me all confused.
It all starts with my son crying and rubbing his eyes, followed my uneasiness in his throat, coughing and sneezing. And even this time, my son started crying and rubbing his eyes when I saw a yellowish discharge in the inner corner of his eyes along with some mild redness. I rushed him to the paediatrician.
After examining my son, he said it was a severe case of dust allergy along with some bacterial infection in his eyes. I asked the doctor if my son was suffering from low immunity levels since he keeps falling sick again and again. He told me, more than immunity, it is the indoor air pollution that is affecting my boy. No matter how much you try to feed your baby balanced nutritious food to maintain his/her immunity levels, indoor air pollution can still affect your child.
That’s when I said to myself – enough is enough. I will not let these invisible devils work on my son or my family anymore. I spoke with a couple of my friends and what seemed to be a great idea was to buy an air purifier.
As a mom, my resolution was to ensure my son gets to breathe clean air at home. I wanted my home to be his safe place. But unfortunately, dust, pollen, allergens, airborne viruses, mold, mites and smoke crept into our safe haven and affected my son directly. This needed to change!
Next day, I dropped my son at the play school, went to the market and got myself an air purifier to get rid of air pollution from my home. Initially, I was a little confused about which brand should I get, but one of the friends had suggested I should go for Honeywell Air Purifier. It has some impressive features that I cannot help but mention. This air purifier does not emit any harmful gases as a by-product of the filtration technology. It has no sharp edges and has an anti-fall design with zero exposure to filters - ensuring that there is no risk to your child if s/he happens to touch the air purifier. Lastly, I also read that this air purifier was recommended by the Indian Medical Academy.
It has been a month since I started using the air purifier. And trust me, the results have been pretty amazing so far. The problem of cold and cough has visibly reduced for my son; touchwood. Even me and my husband can feel the freshness in the air inside the house.
Mommies, I know you want the best for your child, and it is us who have to take charge! Don’t wait for it to get too late. Toddlers generally stay at home most of the time and as moms, it is our prerogative to ensure our child breathes germ-free air.
