Developmental delays can manifest themselves in different ways, in the early years impacting developmental milestones in children. At times a child may suffer from more than one developmental delay. For instance, in children who have issues with nutrition as well as speech delay, this can become an ordeal for the parent or primary caregiver. Low weight and inadequate growth could possibly point to other challenges that the child may face.

In this video, Dr. Himani Khanna, a Developmental Pediatrician from Continua Kids, Gurgaon; shares her inputs on tracking the growth and developmental milestones and talks about addressing these developmental delays in children. She also recommends getting a proper assessment done by a developmental pediatrician to identify any other deviations from the growth chart. This can help the parents to receive early intervention for their child. For a child with feeding and speech issues, this can help him  in getting proper nutrition as well as help in building speech and language skills.. Dr. Himani also shares certain activities like oromotor exercises to build speech that parents and primary caregivers can use to build speech in the child.
