Make Delicious Dalgona Coffee at Home - Recipe

Created by Shikha Batra Updated on Jul 06, 2020
Hi everyone! Today I have a got a recipe, the origins of which can be traced to the Indian subcontinent where it is popularly called -'phenti hui coffee' or 'whipped coffee' which is the English name for the desi delicacy. It's been given the nickname Dalgona for its resemblance to the traditional Korean honeycomb candy.
It is a perfect recipe for the lockdown situation that we all are in for three reasons:
a) It requires just four ingredients which are easily available at our homes and therefore there is no need for us to go out to buy them.
b) It is not only aesthetically pleasing, tempting but is refreshing too.
c) It gives us our perfect share of caffeine fix while social distancing at home and so is a perfect alternative of regular coffee that we usually have.
Materials required:
-
Measuring spoon (1 tablespoon)
-
A regular spoon (1 teaspoon)
-
An electric hand-held mixer or a whisk
-
A large-sized bowl
The four ingredients which are required include:
-
Instant coffee- 2 tablespoons
-
Sugar-2 tablespoons
-
Hot water- 2 tablespoons
-
Milk- 250ml (ice cold)
Procedure:
1. Mix all the three ingredients in a bowl with a spoon, i.e. sugar, instant coffee and hot water till the sugar melts.
2. Use the electric hand-held beater or the whisk to beat the mixture till it gets light and fluffy. You can check with a whisk, it should have soft peaks. This process shall take around 7-8 minutes.
3. Take ice-cold milk in a serving glass.
4. Top it with the 3-4 scoops of whipped coffee and Voila!
It is ready to serve.
Note: You could adjust the sugar as per your taste.
Few tips:
-
Use boiling hot water for making the recipe.
-
Whichever device you are using be it an electric mixer or a whisk or a spoon, stir it in one direction only to make the mixture light and fluffy.
