8 warming food recipes for your child

The winter season has arrived. This is the time of the year when you would need a string of blankets, sweaters, infernos and so on to keep you and your child warm. However here are some food recipes which you can prepare and help in keeping your little one healthy as well as warm.

Healthy Lasagne Soup

This winter season try this different soup and see how your family gobbles up their cuppa.

Ingredients For Lasagne Soup

  1. 1 Cup minced chicken
  2. ½ tsp chilli powder
  3. ½ tsp chopped garlic
  4. 1 Tsp rock salt
  5. ½ tsp roasted fennel seeds
  6. 1/4th tsp chilli flakes (optional)
  7. 1 onion, diced
  8. ½ cup mushroom chopped
  9. 4 Cups of chicken broth
  10. 2 Tbsp tomato puree (home-made)
  11. Handful spinach leaves, chopped
  12. 2-3 Lasagne noodles, broken into pieces
  13. 1/4th cup milk
  14. 1 Tbsp Cheddar cheese (to garnish)
  15. 1 Tbsp coriander leaves (chopped, to garnish)

Method To Prepare Lasagne Soup

  1. In a non-stick pan, add the minced chicken and spices over medium flame
  2. Once you see that the colour of the chicken has changed
  3. Add onion and cook for some time
  4. Now stir in the mushroom and let it cook
  5. Once everything is well cooked then it’s time to transfer all of it to a bowl
  6. In the same non-stick pan add in the chicken broth and let it boil for few minutes
  7. Now add in tomato puree and cook for half an hour
  8. Once the broth is well cooked, add in the minced chicken mixture and again cook for about 10-15 minutes
  9. Before switching of the gas add in milk, spinach, noodles and cook on high flame for about 5 minutes
  10. Now switch of the gas and garnish with cheese and coriander leaves

Pizza Flavoured Warm Pasta

Pasta that too with a flavour of pizza. Your child will love it.

Ingredients For Pizza Flavoured Warm Pasta

  1. 1 Cup penne pasta, boiled
  2. ½ cup tomato puree (home-made)
  3. 1 Tsp dried basil
  4. 1 tsp oregano’
  5. ½ black pepper
  6. 4 Tbsp chopped capsicum
  7. 2 Tbsp boiled corn
  8. 1 Tsp chopped garlic
  9. 2 Tbsp Mozzarella cheese
  10. 1 Tsp Olive oil
  11. Salt to taste
  12. 1 Chopped onion

Method To Prepare For Pizza Flavoured Warm Pasta

  1. In a non-stick pan add olive oil
  2. Then add in garlic and sauté for 2 minutes once done add tomato puree and cook for 2 minutes
  3. Now add in chopped capsicum,
  4. Chopped onion and boiled corn
  5. Cook for 2-3 minutes
  6. Add in the boiled pasta and stir well
  7. Mix in herbs, salt and black pepper
  8. Now in a bowl place the pasta and sprinkle mozzarella on top
  9. Place the pasta in the microwave for about 40secs-1minute in order to melt the cheese

Delicious Pumpkin Soup

If your child doesn't like to eat pumpkin, give him or her this soup and you will see how soon the bowl gets empty.

Ingredients For Pumpkin Soup

  1. 1 Cup chopped and pureed pumpkin
  2. ½ chopped onion
  3. 1 Tbsp chopped garlic
  4. 2 Cups chicken stock/vegetable stock’
  5. 1 ½ tbsp apple cider vinegar
  6. ½ tsp black pepper powder
  7. 2 Tbsp chopped carrot
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Olive oil

Method To Prepare Pumpkin Soup

  1. In a pan, add olive oil and then add garlic, onion and sauté for 3-4minutes till the onion is soft
  2. Now add in the chopped carrots and sauté for more 3 minutes
  3. Add in the pumpkin puree and cook for 3-4minutes
  4. Pour in the chicken stock/vegetable stock and mix well
  5. Puree the entire mixture using a blender of mixer
  6. Add in apple cider vinegar, black pepper powder and salt
  7. Mix well and serve warm

Go Crazy With Egg And Vegetable Bread Cups

Eggs and vegetables make for a complete healthy meal.

Ingredients For Egg And Vegetable Bread Cups

  1. 4 Slices of whole wheat bread
  2. 2 Tbsp chopped carrot
  3. 2 Tbsp chopped French beans
  4. 2 Tbsp chopped bell peppers
  5. ½ Cup boiled cauliflower/broccoli
  6. 4 Baby corns, chopped
  7. 1 Tsp black pepper
  8. ½ tsp red chilli flakes
  9. Olive oil
  10. Salt to taste
  11. 1 Tsp mixed herbs
  12. 2 Tbsp chopped coriander
  13. 2 Tbsp crumbled paneer
  14. ½ Tsp ginger garlic paste
  15. 2 Eggs, mixed with little salt

Method To Prepare Egg And Vegetable Bread Cups

  1. In a pan, add olive oil and then sauté all the veggies with ginger garlic paste
  2. Now add in black pepper, herbs, red chilli flakes and salt
  3. Cook for 4-5 minutes then switch off the gas
  4. Now take a muffin tray, apply little oil and place in aside
  5. Dip the bread slices in water, press it slightly and then cut the sides
  6. Now place the bread slices in the muffin cups one by one
  7. Add in the about 2 tbsps of egg mixture in the bread cup , place the veggies and add crumbled paneer
  8. Preheat the oven for 10-15minutes
  9. Then place the muffin tray in the oven and place it for 15-120minutes (check if you aren’t sure with the help of a toothpick)
  10. You can sprinkle the chopped coriander once the bread cups are cooked well

Glassful Of Minty Chocolate Milk

Chocolate flavoured milk is loved by most children. Does your child love it too? Add a minty twist to it and see the difference.

Ingredients For Minty Chocolate Milk

  1. 1 ½ cup whole milk
  2. 1/8th tsp peppermint extract or 1 tbsp brewed peppermint tea
  3. 2 Tbsp dark chocolate syrup or 1 Tbsp grated dark chocolate
  4. 1 Tsp chopped almonds
  5. 1 Tbsp crushed Marie biscuit
  6. 1 Tsp Chocó chips

Method To Prepare Minty Chocolate Milk

  1. In a mixer or blender add milk, peppermint extract, and dark chocolate and blend well
  2. Now add Chocó chips and place in the microwave for about 30-40secs only
  3. Once done remove from the microwave wait for 2-3 minutes then sprinkle Marie biscuits and almonds

Honey Glazed Baby Carrots

Carrots with honey make an excellent combination.

  1. 4 Baby carrots
  2. 1 Tsp olive oil
  3. 1 Tsp honey
  4. ½ tsp crushed ginger
  5. 1 Tbsp coriander leaves

Method To Prepare Honey Glazed Baby Carrots

  1. Boil the carrots in little water and wait till it is soft
  2. Now in a pan add olive oil.honey,crushed ginger and add in the carrots
  3. Mix well and coat the carrots with the mixture
  4. Sprinkle the coriander leaves on top and serve

Scrumptious Black Bean Soup

Soups are healthy for your child and easily digestible too.

Ingredients For Black Bean Soup

  1. 1Tsp olive oil
  2. 1 Small onion
  3. 1/2tsp cinnamon powder
  4. 1 Cup boiled black beans
  5. 2 Tbsp yogurt (optional)
  6. 1 Tbsp coriander leaves
  7. 1 Small sweet potato
  8. 2 Cups vegetable broth

Method For Preparing Vegetable Fried Rice

  1. In a pan, heat oil on medium heat
  2. Add in the onion and cinnamon, cook for 5-6minutes
  3. Add in the boiled beans, vegetable broth, chopped sweet potato
  4. Now bring in the mixture to boil and cook for 5 minutes
  5. Now puree the soup in a mixer or using a blender, you can blend the soup
  6. Reheat the soup now and serve with yogurt and coriander leaves
    1. 1 Tbsp olive oil
    2. 1 medium onion, chopped
    3. 2 Tbsp chopped carrot
    4. 2 Tbsp French beans, chopped
    5. 1 Tsp ginger garlic paste
    6. 2 Cups brown rice, boiled
    7. 1/4th cup boiled peas’
    8. 2 Eggs, lightly beaten
    9. 1 Tsp low-sodium soy sauce
    10. ½ tsp chilli sauce
    11. Salt to taste
    12. Black pepper powder to taste
    13. Spring onions, chopped to garnish
    1. Heat a pan on medium flame and add in oil
    2. Now saute onion and rest of the vegetables for 2 minutes
    3. Now add in ginger garlic paste and sauté for -3 more minutes
    4. Add in the peas and slowly add brown rice
    5. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes
    6. Pour in the soy sauce ,chilli sauce
    7. Mix well
    8. Add in salt and black pepper powder
    9. Now make a well in between the rice and pour in the beaten eggs
    10. Mix well so that all the egg gets incorporated in the rice
    11. Cover it and cook for 5 minutes more
    12. Garnish with chopped spring onions
    13. Serve warm
