Hi, my baby girl is 1. 9 years old. Please suggest me what kind of poems can I teach her. Or any suggestions how to start teaching.. As am not interested in sending her to play school.

Hello Vijitra, babies love to listen to poems with action... these poems are the storehouse of new words ...They learn names of the animals, objects, colours, animal sounds ,counting etc from them. Some good rhymes are: twinkle twinkle little star, baa baa black sheep, Mary had a little lamb, 1 2 3 4 5 once l caught a fish alive, Old Macdonald had a farm, Pussy cat, The wheels on the bus, Song of finger family... etc. This is the high time to engage your child to some nice creative activities like finger printing, match the animals, drawing on sand and magic board, shape puzzles, stack the rings... etc. Buy some colourful board books of picture study and rhymes. read out loudly those words pointing the relevant picture with your index finger and ask your child to repeat them after your utterance.
