Baby Brushing

My baby who is a 1 yr old who has 4 teeth . Some of my relatives have suggested that I brush his teeth with a baby toothbrush, but I am confused about whether a child of this age needs to have their teeth brushed or not. If it is required, how am I to brush his teeth when he bites anything that he finds in his mouth. If I forcibly brush his teeth, will he spit out?
