Baby face became dark

Hi my baby is 1 month old nw and when he was 20 days he got rashes on all over face with dryness. My cousin suggested to apply Nivea cream, as she applied same fr her baby fr d same problem. Nw all rashes cleared fr my baby but his face became dark and I feel guilty on myself by applying Nivea. Plz help

Thank u Shikha Batra . Am massaging with coconut oil n using Himalaya baby soap. Am worried a lot by seeing my baby face as his hands n legs r fair. and whether my baby face skin tone get improves n hw to do it
