Hi Soniya. From what I know, this kind of rhythmic movement is normal in babies and will start tailing off soon. Children can do this to calm themselves since they find it soothing, relaxing and comforting, which is why he engages in such behavior before sleeping. However, you might want to check is he is experiencing any kind of pain, because in that case he could be doing the head rolling to distract himself. If you have a healthy baby who is growing well, then you have nothing to worry about. You could probably sing to him or play soothing music to distract him before he falls asleep.

Hi Vaishali, Thanks a lot for your response. He is a healthy boy. I will try playing a soothing music before he goes off to sleep and will keep you posted on how he reacts to that. :)

Dear Soniya, I too agree with what Vaishali said, it is mostly a comforting action for your baby which helps him nod off better. It is similar to being rocked or patted or even nursed to sleep. There is nothing to worry about and he is likely to outgrow it :)
