My baby is 6 months old. He is not comfortable with rolling over yet. His chest bones look bumpy and one of the elders of our family advised that the bumpy chest would be normal once he rolls over. He is trying to sit and stand. Is this all normal. I just wanna confirm. Please help.

Hi Naseema, I'm not sure but even i have heard the same. My friend's son's chest was also bumpy but now he is 2 and his chest is normal. I think it got better once he started crawling. So may be you can also encourage ur son to crawl now and if u don't see the results then consult ur pediatrician for the same.

Dear Naseema, all babies are different and they reach milestones at their own pace. Some babies may just not roll over and go straight to crawling. My son did not roll over too and did not crawl. He would sit and drag his bottom instead. People around me used to say that he has to crawl etc but I just let take his time. But from this he went straight to walking at 18 months. You may let your baby have some tummy time (let him play when resting on his tummy). This will strengthen his back and shoulder and he will gradually learn to push himself up. Once he is comfortable with all this, he may roll from time to time. I suggest that you need not worry about it yet unless there are other symptoms or conditions related to his bumpy chest (like it seems painful to touch etc).
