Bera - Hearing Test

My baby is 45 days old and she is going for a BERA test. She has failed the hearing assessment for right ear which was conducted at the hospital. She was born at my 34th week of gestation. Can you pls suggest me how to prepare my child for the test and are there reasons for the test to fail? Or is it a permanent hearing issue?

hi Valarmathi G! since doctors have doubts regarding her hearing , they have again called u for BERA test, which would be a confirmatory test and will confirm the extent of loss, if any. Valarmathi the baby should remain still while the test is being conducted, this will be ensured if the baby sleeps or is made to sleep with a mild sedative. secondly her hair should not have oil, so give her a hairwash with a mild shampoo. also follow the instructions given by doc. hope this will be of help to u!
