Hi Divya, The first stage of treatment is taking antibiotics. Depending on the size of the abscess and your level of discomfort, your doctor may also want to open up the abscess and drain the pus. so keep in touch with your doctor and follow his instructions.

Yes , First stage is antibiotics. If it doesn't get cured then you may have to give hot water compression for few days till it fully liquifies and pus open up on its own. It's painful and u have to use pain killers till then. if not the left out option is surgical drainage. I had surgical drainage in my right and natural pus opening on left one due to abscess and mastities. The pain is like hell. Best thing is to avoid engorgement of breasts.

I was doing the same. But ended up with abscess You have to ensure that you are feeding every 2-3 hrs and your breasts should not be heavy after each feed. If it is still heavy then you have to pump or express remaining milk manually.

My daughter stopped and refuses to latch on my breast after mastities. I am using electric pump and giving that milk in bottle. Hope your Little one gets enough milk from you.. !! Happy Motherhood.. !!
