Hi parents. Please suggest how can chest congestion be reduced without taking medicines. My daughter is 6 year old and she has been complaining of chest pain, dizziness. she is coughing, wheezing and has runny nose. I am really worried.

There is home remedy. I hv used it for my son when he was young. Take bettle 2 leaves (from any pan wala) wash it with water…dry it properly Then switch on the gas…and just from far make leves warm…apply…vicks… And in the night whn the child sleeps…keep one leave on the chest and one in the back. It believes tht bettle leaves are very warm and it helps to melt the mucus. Keep in one day and see the miracle. Second…when ur daughter sleeps put one drop of almond oil in each nostril. She will be fine in 2 days. Take care of her.

Hi dear Arushi! I believe ur daughter needs to be nebulized. It is advisable please take her to the doctor where s/he will give medication and will also nebulize her. U cud put the steamer on in her room. This will give some temporary relief, give her tulsi, ginger tea. But please do visit the doc.

Hi Arushi. I agree with what Shikha has said. Kindly consult the doctor as the ailments you mentioned, if neglected, could lead to pneumonia. I do not intend to scare you, but my daughter had pneumonia when she was 2 years old and the symptoms were just as you wrote. It is likely that she has been not eating well too? In the meantime, you may apply some vicks on her chest, back and under her feet and make sure she sleeps with her head elevated. Hope she feels better soon.
