My daughter is 31 months old and has been going to the daycare since she was 5 months old since I am a working mother and have no support at home with family staying in different parts of the country. She goes to a good daycare which also has a pre-k. Now I need to make up my mind on if I should continue in the same place for pre-k or get an admission into a school for nursery next year). My questions 1. how do I go about finding out what is the right curriculum (IB, IGCSE or ICSE) 2. What is the nest method of teaching. Should i be looking for Montessori, tracditional or a combination of the two? 2. and based on that how do I shortlist schools and finalize on that ? Reviews on the internet always end up giving mixed opinions.

Hi dear Aparna! I would like to answer your second q first which method to teaching is d best. In the modern times with the pace things r changing , so is the ethics, values , thought processes and so on . Keeping all this in mind Montessori method of teaching has been adopted by many schools which is also popularly known as the play-way method. In this learner is the focus, the activities are designed keeping in mind the developmental level of each n every individual and learn at their own pace. The purpose of activities designed so is to make each n very child independent and resourceful by the completion of the task and even the materials used are self corrective for example putting of different shapes blocks in a box from the same respecive shape holes. So a diamond shape block will only go thru diamond shape hole. So a child would keep n correcting self until successful.

Ur third q on selection of schools. I am sure by now u must have short listed few schools and must be in a dilemma which is the best out of those. When the schools admissions are on,the newspapers publish a report on which there is ranking of schools given based on different criteria such as extra curricular, academics, infrastructure, faculty etc. u wud get a fair idea of which school is the best. Plus u cud visit the schools u have short listed and satisfy ur queries regarding their performance by asking parents and students too. Also details of schools can be collected from their official websites. The things which should be kept in mind while selection of a school should include distance from ur house, academic results, co curricular activities, method of teaching, faculty, teacher student ratio in each class.

Now coming to ur first q choosing the right curriculum. Going tothe details : IB i. e. International Baccalaureate, ICSE I. e. Indian Certificate of secondary Education and IGCSE I. e International General Certificate of Secondary Education. IB is an internationally recognized course of study for 11 th and 12th graders. It is a diploma and those who complete this program can get admission in any college or university in the world. ICSE on the other hand is conducted by Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations for class 10 th students. IGSCE is a globally recognised qualification taken at class 10 level. A student who passes IGSCE is eligible for any +2 level qualification like CBSE,ICSE or any international pre university Programme. it has worldwide status and credibility. in India it is conducted by two assessment bodies EDexcel and CIE. If you want your child to pursue education in any other country at +2 or univeristy level u cud go in for IB and IGSCE.
