My Daughter is 6 year old. From past some days she has started coughing and the strange part is she coughs mostly at night only more than day time. I am giving her cough syrup but they do not seem effective. Please suggest.

Dear Swati, try with Homeopath medicine. And these days cough is a regular thing and specially it gets worst during the night. I have 2 daughters and the younger one who is not even 2 years is having the same problem. She starts cough in the middle of the night as if she is going to throw up and at time does also. I am giving her regularly homoepathy medicine. You can also try with gargling id your daughter can do it.. Its quite effective. 1 glass of like warm water with a pinch of salt.

Hi dear Swati! Cough in this weather is mostly allergic. Especially Cough at nite is mainly due to d fact that when the child lies down it leads to post nasal discharge which further leads to cough and sometimes child throws up. So u need to give anti allergic such as livocetrizine, along with steam and ginger Tulsa tea. u might also need to nebulize ur child so please consult ur pediatrician.

Dear Swati, my kids cough away as soon as they hit the pillow. I rub some vicks on their chest, back and under the feet. That helps in soothing the cough. Cough syrups do not help us too, so I avoid giving any unless its too bad. I was once told by a doctor that it is better that they cough as the mucous gets expelled that way rather than it being suppressed with a cough syrup.
