hi Nisha Sankhala ! sometimes it's the teacher because of whom child is not able to develop interest for the subject. .may be she is strict, or she doesn't parise the child, or she doesn't give him the chance to show his talent. ascertain the exact cause and try and reason it out. give him small tests papers at home and when he does well, celebrate his success, give him praise. in other words try and recreate his interest by looking for innovative methods of teaching him, and motivating him to do well . patiently help him clarify his concepts by giving examples from day to day life, showing physical things or using other innovative methods . maths is one subject which one should practice everyday. hope this helps!

Hi Nisha, regular practice is a must. But also understand that it's not necessary to have a half an hour or 1 hr practice. Even if the child spends 10 to 15 minutes a day, ensure, the time is effectively spent in learning the concept. The aversion towards the subject makes children run away from it. If you could use different way to teach the subject, please do so as teaching methodology plays a major role in shaping the child's attitude towards learning. Make him understand that there are multiple ways to solve a problem. Allow him to explore different ways to solve and let him use whichever way he is comfortable with. As much as possible avoid using abstract way of problem solving - Meaning do not introduce the topic with plain number arithmetic operations or variables. Try using diagrammatic representation or a physical model. Make him underline the important words from the problem, break the problem down into smaller parts. Translate each part into a diagrammatic representation. It will be much easier to solve. Use manipulative to learn a concept. Never make him memorise any formula. Through diagrams show how the formula is derived. Your attitude towards math can also affect his opinion. So approach the subject with a Positive attitude. Good luck.
